How to pick new tires?

  • Size. First and foremost, always select the tire type that was designed for your car. Things like tire size and quality will always be a given if you do this.
  • Time. It is difficult to tell you when you should replace your tires because there are man factors that play into it; miles road conditions, weather, driving style, etc. In general, tires should be replaced every six years. At this point, their tread is lifely to have worn down a significant amount, regardless of the miles you put on them.
  • Season. Summer-time tires are great for going fast on dry roads. However, throw any weather in their direction, driving with a lot more caution is highly recommended because the grip was not designed to handle heavily weathered roads.
  • Winter tires. The name says it all. The traction on these tires was developed to handle the cold temperatures and icy roads.
  • All-Season tires were made to be the ideal tire for every day driving. The grip is good enough to handle dry, high speeds but also well-accommodated slippery roads.

So why do we choose between tires if all-season tires are good enough for any season? It’s the same reason why we wear specific shoes for particular weather. Yeah, sure those tennis shoes may have a good grip on the slippery roads, but they will not keep your feet warm – contrary, in the summer, they will not keep your feet fresh – but they are good enough. We want everyone to be safe while driving for whatever the weather throws at them. We always recommend seasonally appropriate tires to help make sure that happens.
